I'm very excited to work with your child in the intervention room! Please feel free to visit my classroom, room 107, or contact me at any time.
A bit about my homelife...I am a single mom raising a great son, Michael, who attended Edison for his elementary years! I am now a part-time 'empty nester'! I stay busy maintaining my home and working with our awesome Edison Students!
Professionally, I decided I wanted to teach when I was in second grade! I attended Citrus Junior College then moved on to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, to attain a Bachelor's Degree. My first teaching assignment was a second grade position in a small town in California's Central Valley. Working with a highly migrant, Spanish speaking population, I went on to attain a Master's Degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Education from Cal State, Bakersfield. From there, I moved back to the coast to teach for 4 years before moving to Colorado. I've taught in Denver since 1992. I've worked as a Title I reading teacher, UCD Coordinator and classroom teacher. I've served on many committees including Leadership, CSC, Literacy, Science and Math. I supervise both Science Club and Edison's Annual Science Fair. I've mentored many fellow teachers and have hosted many student teachers from the surrounding colleges in Colorado, but my main passion is working with young students who are excited about exploring and learning about their place in the world as they gain academic skills that will support their success through life!
